Beautifully made. I bought it for my Grandaughter's 5th BIrthday present. I wanted to give her the opportunity of exploring the interaction of shapes, patterns and colours. Also to appreciate the value of 'undoing and putting back together'.

Exotic Hardwood Building Blocks - 60pc Oak Box Set
The Blocks Go Back Like a Puzzle
Specifications
Classic Building Blocks in Exotic Hardwoods (Ages 1+)
Sixty pieces of real wood in a solid oak tray. Arches, columns, triangles, cylinders — every classic block shape, each one cut from purpleheart, padauk, zebrano or oak. No two blocks look alike. The colours are the wood itself, brought to life with child-safe oil that deepens the grain and makes every piece glow.
Stack them, sort them, build with them — then pack them back into the tray like a puzzle. The oak box keeps everything together and looks beautiful on a shelf between sessions.

Crafted by Nature, Perfected by Hand
The Story Behind Our Woods
At Oak & Sprout, we believe every toy should have a story. That’s why we choose woods that don’t just look beautiful, but have their own natural character. For example, our vibrant Purpleheart isn’t just a colour— we had to switch to diamond-tipped blades to be able to shape one of the world’s densest woods.
Naturally Colourful, Wonderfully Unique
We never use artificial dyes. Instead, we let woods like Padauk and Purpleheart reveal their own rich hues over time. Each piece is a little bit of nature’s own artwork, making every toy one-of-a-kind.
Built to Inspire and Challenge
Toys like our Shelly Slow puzzle are crafted to be engaging again and again. We design them so that each assembly is a fresh adventure, encouraging little ones to think, explore, and build resilience—all while playing.

The Montessori Playmat
In Montessori education, the work mat defines the child’s workspace — a bounded area that fosters focus, independence, and respect for materials. Children carry their chosen activity to it, work, and return everything when finished. This is the Montessori work cycle.
Our playmat brings this principle home. It creates a "prepared environment" - a core Montessori concept - wherever your child chooses to learn. On the kitchen table, the living room floor, or at a grandparent’s house.
- Defines a focused workspace for independent learning
- Protects surfaces and keeps pieces contained
- Rolls up for easy storage and travel
No Instructions Required.
Building blocks are the oldest toy in the world for a reason. No batteries, no screens, no rules. Stack them, line them up, build a wall, knock it down. These are the moments where engineering starts — where a two-year-old learns that three blocks on top of each other is a tower, and a tower can fall.
What makes these blocks different is what they’re made from. Four exotic hardwoods — oak, purpleheart, padauk, and zebrano — each with its own weight, colour, and grain. Children sort by colour before they know what sorting means. They feel the difference between the dense purpleheart and the lighter oak. They’re learning with their hands.
Four Hardwoods. Naturally Colourful.
Every block is cut from one of four exotic hardwoods — chosen for its colour, grain, and feel. No dyes, no stains. Every colour is the natural wood.

Looking for open play look no further
The Oak & Sprout bricks were bought for my first grandson as an heirloom gift. He’s currently only 12 weeks old so as yet he’s unaware of the joy they will bring him. Though his Mummy is certainly enjoying them.
The quality of the pieces is exceptional and the craftsmanship superb. Even down to the beautiful dovetail joints on the oak tray. They are extremely tactile and the different woods just add to the charm.
I was contacted by Oak & Sprout advising me that there would be a slight delay in delivery’s, not just by email but a phone call too. Once I advised that my grandson was only a few weeks old there was no rush. When hearing this I was offered an engraving option. I jumped at the chance especially as I had purchased them for my grandson to treasure and hopefully pass on to future generations. Whilst some might think they are expensive I totally disagree they are more than worth the money, especially when you think of the price of some plastic toys that are only going to end up in landfill within a few years.
I have told all my friends about this wonderful company, and would recommend to any parent, godparent, grandparent in fact to anyone that is looking to buy a gift that is going to give hours of open play.
Oak & Sprouts customer service is beyond first rate, advising right the way through the time line of your purchase.
All this and you get to support a UK small business.
I can guarantee my grandsons bricks will not be my only purchase from Oak & Sprout.
We are expecting twin grandchildren in a few weeks, so as soon as the arrive I will be placing another order for two setts, just waiting on names so I can take up their wonderful engraving service.
Do not hesitate just order even if it may take a few weeks for delivery, I assure you they are more than worth the wait.
Spot on!
It’s absolutely spot on, beautifully crafted, and I really appreciate all the information about the wood types.
Little Hector is going to have hours of fun.
Thank you so much 😊.
It’s a keeper for sure.
I found Oak & Sprout via Facebook where I saw the exotic hardwood building blocks. I was very impressed by the business ethos and contacted Jennifer to ask if it was possible to personalise the item for me as I needed it for a special gift. The customer service is outstanding and everything I asked for was duly delivered. I was moved to tears by the quality and workmanship and I am sure it will be treasured by generations to come.
I loved the look of the geometric bricks
I loved the look of the geometric wooden bricks it was reviewed by an architect as a beautiful product . It had recommendations from Montessori being child friendly as they sourced woods from sustainable countries and the dyes were non toxic. The order was badly delayed and I wondered if it had been a scam GLADLY It is so carefully crafted by hand which is a slow process and BELIEVE ME It was WELl WORTH the wait and I will back for more Just order early as they are so popular by discerning customers and cannot recommend Highly Enough Jenniver responded to all my emails with care and attention and most of all Delivered a beautiful gift .
