🌳 Meet the Trees

We use five beautiful, sustainable hardwoods. Each has its own look, feel, and story — just like every young explorer!

🐅 Tigerwood

Looks like: Golden brown with bold dark stripes – like a tiger’s back!

Grows in: Central and South America

Did you know? Some people call it “Brazilian Koa.” It’s super strong — builders even use it for fancy decks and guitars!

🔴 Padauk

Looks like: Bright orangey-red, like a glowing sunset. Over time it turns deep red-brown.

Grows in: Africa

Did you know? Padauk is so colourful it’s been used in ceremonial masks, xylophones, and even Olympic medals!

🦓 Zebrano (Zebrawood)

Looks like: Light tan with dark brown stripes – it really looks like zebra fur.

Grows in: West Africa

Did you know? Car companies like Mercedes used Zebrano for their luxury dashboards!

💜 Purpleheart

Looks like: Bright purple at first, then turns deep violet with age (like magic!).

Grows in: Central and South America

Did you know? It’s so tough that some people use it in floors and even boats — and it’s a favourite for making magic wands!

🌳 Oak

Looks like: Warm brown with lovely grain lines — sometimes like rivers across a map.

Grows in: All over Europe and North America

Did you know? Oak trees can live for up to 1,000 years! In ancient times, people believed oak trees were homes for forest spirits.

🧴 Caring For Your Toy

To keep your toy feeling lovely, rub a little natural oil into it every few months. We include a pot of Heidelberg oil with most toys — if you need more, you can buy it here.

Your toy may change colour over time with love and play — we think that’s part of its story 🌱

🌳 From Our Family to Yours

We’re Jennifer & George, a husband-and-wife team based in Wiltshire. Every Oak & Sprout toy is handcrafted from sustainably sourced hardwoods and inspired by the joy and curiosity of our young daughter.

Thank you for supporting our small family workshop. We hope your child's adventures as a Wood Explorer grow alongside them and become cherished parts of your family's story.
