Fractions You Can Feel

Geo Nest makes fractions visible. Children discover that two halves make a whole, that three triangles form a larger shape, and that geometry is something you can hold in your hands. It's maths they can feel — and that feeling stays with them.

The Essential Companion

The Montessori Playmat

In Montessori education, the work mat defines the child's workspace — a bounded area that fosters focus, independence, and respect for materials. Children carry their chosen activity to it, work, and return everything when finished. This is the Montessori work cycle.

Our playmat brings this principle home. It creates a "prepared environment" - a core Montessori concept - wherever your child chooses to learn. On the kitchen table, the living room floor, or at a grandparent's house.

  • Defines a focused workspace for independent learning
  • Protects surfaces and keeps pieces contained
  • Rolls up for easy storage and travel

Designed to Grow

A Learning Journey, Not Just a Toy

Our learning boards are sequenced to follow your child's natural development. Start with the Geo Nest for shapes and spatial awareness from age 1. Move to numbers and lowercase letters at age 2-3. Progress to uppercase, extended numbers, and tracing by age 4-5.

Each board builds on the skills of the last. The chunky pieces of the Geo Nest develop the grip strength needed for the smaller letter pieces. The number puzzle's 0-9 lays the foundation for the extended 1-20 board. It's a curriculum in wood — designed to grow with your child.

The Montessori Approach

Why Hands-On Learning Matters

In the Montessori method, children learn through touch, manipulation, and self-correction. Our learning boards are designed around this principle: each piece has a single correct position, so children know immediately when they've got it right — without being told.

The contrasting exotic hardwoods aren't just beautiful - they provide a visual and tactile cue that helps children distinguish between pieces. A purpleheart "A" feels different from a padauk "B". Learning happens through the hands before the mind catches up.

Crafted with Purpose

The Materials

We use naturally colourful exotic hardwoods because children deserve better than paint and plastic. Every piece is sanded smooth and finished with a child-safe natural oil. The colours you see are the wood itself - no stains, no dyes, no shortcuts.

Purpleheart
Purpleheart
Rich violet tones that deepen with age. Exceptionally hard and durable.
Padauk
Padauk
Vibrant coral-red that mellows to a warm brown. Naturally resistant to wear.
Walnut
Walnut
Deep chocolate brown with fine grain. A classic hardwood prized for centuries.
Zebrano
Zebrano
Striking striped grain pattern. Each piece is unique - nature's own fingerprint.
Tigerwood
Tigerwood
Bold orange-brown with dark streaks. Dense, smooth, and beautifully tactile.

I just wanted to let you know how delighted my grandson was with my Geo Nest present. He immediately engaged with the different shapes, identifying the round one as a circle, then building a little tower with the cubes, topping it with an angled piece, before exploring further. Thank you so much for a lovely item and for the gift wrapping.

This was bought for our first grandchild and I purchased it as a ‘bundle, with the mat, numbers and alphabet. It arrived beautifully wrapped and presented with soft bags to keep the loose items in, is beautifully made, together with a leaflet about the different woods, their origins and will make a wonderful learning tool once our grandchild is old enough. Just a beautiful item to possess and would certainly, if we had the opportunity, would buy again as a gift. If any other learning tools are added, we would be interested in hearing from Oak & Sprout.
