Action Oak's work is to make sure there are still oaks when the children playing with these toys today are grown. Most of what we make in the workshop starts as a plank of oak. The tracing boards, the Infinity Board, the tray the blocks pack back into, the heart of the Unity puzzle: honey-gold, heavy in the hand, with the grain still showing. So when we read that this country's oaks are facing more pressures at once than at any time in living memory, it felt close to home.
Action Oak is a partnership of more than thirty charities, landowners, research institutes and governments, hosted by the Royal Forestry Society, formed to find out what is making our native oaks ill and what can be done about it. The money pays for research into diseases such as acute oak decline, for monitoring the health and age of oaks across the UK, and for passing what is learned to the people who look after oak woods.
Every penny you give here goes to Action Oak. Choose £1, £2, £5 or £10; for any other amount, add the £1 at the quantity you would like.

What the money does
Action Oak is a partnership of more than thirty organisations, hosted by the Royal Forestry Society and formed in 2018 to find out what is making this country’s oaks ill. Its work is research into the threats, among them acute oak decline, confirmed at 394 sites across the UK by 2023; monitoring the health, age and spread of oaks through professional and citizen-science networks; and working with the people who own and look after oak woods.
Its State of the UK’s Oaks report, published in March 2026, counts around 170 million oaks in UK woodland, supporting more than 2,300 species, 326 of which live on oak and nothing else, and finds fewer young oaks establishing than fifty years ago. Donations reach Action Oak through the Royal Forestry Society, registered charity 306093.
