Five Balloons, Endless Stories
Specifications
Floating shapes that reach for the clouds
Five hardwood balloons drift on slender stems: a blushing Padauk circle, a velvety Purpleheart disc, a shooting-star Walnut burst, a soft-edged Tigerwood star and a nestling Awoura heart. Tucked into a beech frame, Sky Bloom invites children to land each shape in its perfect pocket, then send their bouquet soaring again and again. As they flip colours, swap stars, and rebuild the bouquet, little learners practise one-to-five counting, shape recognition, and the wrist rotation that underpins confident handwriting—all through the natural grain of real wood.
Why parents & home-educators love it
-
Counting & pattern play – arrange balloons by size, sequence, or colour before “launch.”
-
Fine-motor and wrist development – gentle curves demand precise grip and forearm rotation.
-
Language & storytelling – prompts imaginative tales of parties, parades, and cloud-spotting adventures.
-
Mindful focus – a pocket-size calm-down activity that needs no screens or batteries.
-
Natural sensory palette – no paints; just rich, responsibly sourced hardwood hues that invite touch.
Crafted by Nature, Perfected by Hand
The Story Behind Our Woods
At Oak & Sprout, we believe every toy should have a story. That’s why we choose woods that don’t just look beautiful, but have their own natural character. For example, our vibrant Purpleheart isn’t just a colour— we had to switch to diamond-tipped blades to be able to shape one of the world’s densest woods.
Naturally Colourful, Wonderfully Unique
We never use artificial dyes. Instead, we let woods like Padauk and Purpleheart reveal their own rich hues over time. Each piece is a little bit of nature’s own artwork, making every toy one-of-a-kind.
Built to Inspire and Challenge
Toys like our Shelly Slow puzzle are crafted to be engaging again and again. We design them so that each assembly is a fresh adventure, encouraging little ones to think, explore, and build resilience—all while playing.

Everyday care. Wipe with a damp cloth and let the wood dry naturally. Please don’t soak it or put it in the dishwasher.
Where to keep it. Away from radiators and direct sun. Wood moves a little as the air grows drier or damper through the year, which is quite natural.
Refreshing the finish. When the wood begins to look dry, rub in one thin coat of Osmo Wood Wax Finish Extra Thin (1101), the finish we use ourselves, and let it dry fully before play. Once dry, it is food-safe. For babies who mouth their toys, ideally wait two weeks. Or let us make it easy: our Toy Care Kit has everything you need.
Our guarantee. Every toy is covered by our Multiple Lifetime Guarantee, and caring for it yourself never affects it.

The Montessori Playmat
In Montessori education, the work mat defines the child’s workspace — a bounded area that fosters focus, independence, and respect for materials. Children carry their chosen activity to it, work, and return everything when finished. This is the Montessori work cycle.
Our playmat brings this principle home. It creates a "prepared environment" - a core Montessori concept - wherever your child chooses to learn. On the kitchen table, the living room floor, or at a grandparent's house.
- Defines a focused workspace for independent learning
- Protects surfaces and keeps pieces contained
- Rolls up for easy storage and travel
Why Persistence Matters More Than Speed
Most toys reward pressing a button. These puzzles reward trying again. The Shelly Slow turtle teaches patience — work out the shell, then the flippers, then the head. Sweet Scoops builds confidence with familiar shapes in unfamiliar arrangements. Sky Bloom and Unity challenge spatial reasoning with pieces that only fit one way.
They’re not meant to be easy on the first try. They’re meant to be satisfying on the tenth.
