Geo Nest Wooden Shape & Fractions Puzzle
From one-block circle to six-block hexagon.
Fractions You Can Feel
Specifications
From one-block circle to six-block hexagon—count, place, marvel.
Invite curious minds to build geometry and geography from the ground up. Geo Nest begins with a single, silky-smooth circle and grows, block by block, into a six-piece hexagon—an effortless introduction to counting, sequencing and spatial awareness. Every shape is cut from a different exotic hardwood sourced across the globe—Padauk from West Africa, Zebrano from Gabon, Tigerwood from South America, and more—then nestled into a beech base that feels wonderful in little hands.
Why parents & home-educators love it
-
Math foundations – Children see how many parts make a whole, making fractions and number sense intuitive. Pair it with our Numbers Tracing Board for instant concrete-to-written connections.
-
Fine-motor mastery – varied piece sizes encourage fingertip control and bilateral coordination.
-
Self-correcting play – every pocket fits only the right shape, so kids discover errors on their own (Montessori style).
-
Open-ended extension – use the pieces for colour sorting, pattern building, building blocks or even storytelling about shapes, trees and nature in daily life.
-
Earth-friendly heirloom – crafted from sustainably sourced exotic hardwoods and finished with child-safe oil; built to pass down, not wear out.
- Geography & STEM storytelling - Each puzzle ships with a Wood Explorer card that pin-points where every timber grew and unlocks the Wood Explorer Hub (QR code) packed with printable maps, scavenger hunts curated short videos and tree facts.
Slip Geo Nest into your Sproutlets tray rotation or pair it with our Alphabet or Numbers Tracing Board for a balanced maths-and-literacy shelf. Piece by piece, you’ll watch confidence—and geometry—take shape.
Crafted by Nature, Perfected by Hand
The Story Behind Our Woods
At Oak & Sprout, we believe every toy should have a story. That’s why we choose woods that don’t just look beautiful, but have their own natural character. For example, our vibrant Purpleheart isn’t just a colour— we had to switch to diamond-tipped blades to be able to shape one of the world’s densest woods.
Naturally Colourful, Wonderfully Unique
We never use artificial dyes. Instead, we let woods like Padauk and Purpleheart reveal their own rich hues over time. Each piece is a little bit of nature’s own artwork, making every toy one-of-a-kind.
Built to Inspire and Challenge
Toys like our Shelly Slow puzzle are crafted to be engaging again and again. We design them so that each assembly is a fresh adventure, encouraging little ones to think, explore, and build resilience—all while playing.

“My grandson, just aged 2, immediately engaged with it, as did several of the adults at his birthday party! Could be a desk toy for grown-ups.”

The Montessori Playmat
In Montessori education, the work mat defines the child's workspace — a bounded area that fosters focus, independence, and respect for materials. Children carry their chosen activity to it, work, and return everything when finished. This is the Montessori work cycle.
Our playmat brings this principle home. It creates a "prepared environment" - a core Montessori concept - wherever your child chooses to learn. On the kitchen table, the living room floor, or at a grandparent's house.
- Defines a focused workspace for independent learning
- Protects surfaces and keeps pieces contained
- Rolls up for easy storage and travel
A Learning Journey, Not Just a Toy
Our learning boards are sequenced to follow your child's natural development. Start with the Geo Nest for shapes and spatial awareness from age 1. Move to numbers and lowercase letters at age 2-3. Progress to uppercase, extended numbers, and tracing by age 4-5.
Each board builds on the skills of the last. The chunky pieces of the Geo Nest develop the grip strength needed for the smaller letter pieces. The number puzzle's 0-9 lays the foundation for the extended 1-20 board. It's a curriculum in wood — designed to grow with your child.
Why Hands-On Learning Matters
In the Montessori method, children learn through touch, manipulation, and self-correction. Our learning boards are designed around this principle: each piece has a single correct position, so children know immediately when they've got it right — without being told.
The contrasting exotic hardwoods aren't just beautiful - they provide a visual and tactile cue that helps children distinguish between pieces. A purpleheart "A" feels different from a padauk "B". Learning happens through the hands before the mind catches up.
The Materials
We use naturally colourful exotic hardwoods because children deserve better than paint and plastic. Every piece is sanded smooth and finished with a child-safe natural oil. The colours you see are the wood itself - no stains, no dyes, no shortcuts.
